Disabled Access at St Columba's
The school seeks to make access to the school as easy as possible for legitimate users. To assist visitors with a disability the following arrangements have been put in place:
Parking
There is a reserved disabled parking bay directly in front of the Main Entrance doors.
Staff in the main office can call a taxi if required.
Routes into the school
There is one level and no steps to the entrance of the main building.
School surfaces are tarmac and it can be slippery in wet/icy conditions. Occasionally some paths may be closed.
Entering the main building
There is one shallow step from the ground level to the doors.
Wheelchair users may use the dropped down curb to the right.
The left hand door opens with a light pull. Assistance may be needed by those using a wheelchair or with a dog. Office staff will be happy to help. The Main Office is opposite the entrance doors.
For those attending, meetings or events, access is from the Main Entrance. Assistance may be needed for those using a wheelchair or with an assistance dog. Please check in at the Main Office Desk on arrival.
Toilets
There are toilets in all Key Stage areas, including an adapted toilet for those with disabilities in the Main Entrance.
Animals
Assistance dogs are welcome in the building with their owners.
Emergency Procedures
Should it be necessary to evacuate the building a continuous alarm will sound. Any member of staff will then assist visitors to leave the school.
