Guided Reading
In Guided Reading lessons, we will continue to use Reading Plus or Reading Eggs three times a week. These online Reading schemes should also be accessed by your child from home as part of their weekly homework. If you do not have your child's login, please contact the class teacher, who will be happy to provide the relevant details.
In class, the children will be reading 'Song of the Dolphin Boy' by Elizabeth Laird and will be reading an information text about Greta Thunberg later on this half term.
RE
In RE this half term, we will be learning about Jesus' early life. We will follow him on his journey, from being presented as a baby in the Temple, to him calling his first disciples and teaching through parables. Check out the knowledge mat below to see the key knowledge and vocabulary that we will be learning throughout this half term.
Science
In science, we are going starting to learn about forces and where we can find them in the world around us. We will answer the question ;What do we mean by a force?' throughout our unit. Look at the knowledge mat below to understand what new vocabulary we will be learning in this unit.
Geography
We are carrying on our learning from last half term in Geography, which is all about how energy enters our homes and powers our country. This half term, we will find out what fossil fuels are and what affect they are having on our planet. In week 1, we will be enhancing our learning by going on a school trip to a Power Station. Look at the knowledge mat below to see what sticky knowledge we are learning.
Homework
Homework will be allocated to children every Friday and is expected to be returned the following Wednesday. Homework alternates between Maths, reading and writing. This will help support learning in the classroom. As well as the set homework, children need to be accessing Reading Plus, Times table Rockstars and Spelling Shed.
